Q: What are promotional products?

Any item decorated with a logo or inscription is considered a "promotional product."  Most often these products are used to promote a company, cause, organization, or event, but can also be commemorative pieces and souvenirs.

Q. What are the benefits of promotional products?

No other advertising medium is more effective at creating a lasting, positive impression.  Your message placed on the right promotional products will be well received and keep your message top of mind for weeks, months and even years.  

If you like numbers, consider the results of a 2010 Advertising Specialty Institute study on the effectiveness of promotional products.  The results show, among other things, that promotional products are more cost effective than traditional forms of advertising (TV, radio and print).  The study also revealed the effectiveness of promotional products:

    • 83% of people remember the advertiser on the product they receive.
    • 42% have a more favorable impression of the advertiser after receiving a product.
    • 60% have done more business with the advertiser after receiving the product. 
    • 24% are more likely to do business with the advertiser on the items they receive. 
    • 81% of promotional products were kept because they were useful.
Q: What are set-up charges?

A set-up charge is the cost associated with the creation of a die, plate, screen, or other fixture that is used in our machines to print your logo on your desired item.

Since each item has a unique imprint area, and imprint methods vary from item to item, it’s necessary to create fixtures for imprints every time you order an item for the first time.  Unless you item is digially printed your set up charges are usually per color, print location.  For examples a 2 color print will have two set up charges and if you want to also print the back of the item with a 1 color print, you will have another set up charges.  Some items do not require a repeat set-up charge on reorders, however, reorders must be placed within a year for you to avoid the charge.

A setup charge is not an artwork fee.  Designing your artwork is a completely different cost.   At this page you can see a graphic image showing a screen set up for t-shirts.


      • Screen Printing - Requires custom screens to print your specific logo.
      • Embroidery - Requires Digitizing to allow the machine to embroider your specific logo. 
Q: Can I see the artwork before my product is produced?

Here at Countdown Printables we take artwork very seriously. Once your artwork is created, you will be sent a digital art proof for you to approve.  After reviewing the art proof, if there are any changes that you would like to make, please let us know before you approve the artwork. Once you approve the digital art proof, no changes can be made and you are responsible for the cost of the products.

Q: What is a PMS or Pantone color?

PMS or Pantone colors are a standardized color system for printing. The Pantone Matching System (PMS) utilizes a palette of standard colors that can be mixed in precise combinations to recreate a wide range of colors consistently across different printing presses and substrates in order to get the pure color that you are seeking.  See Screen Printing Info.

Think of this as the paint chips that you would see at a home improvement or paint store. Most items do offer standard imprint colors, however, if you do need us to match a Pantone color, sometimes there will be a fee. 

Q: How long is artwork kept on file?

Artwork will always be kept on file for your convenience. 

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express).  We also accept money orders, cash or checks.  Normally production will not start on your order until a deposit is received, so paying with a credit card versus sending a payment in the mail will always speed things up.  We offer e-invoicing for quick payment.

Q: What if there is a problem with my order?

Here at Countdown Printables we stand behind our work.  If there was ever a problem with your order, we would take the necessary steps to resolve the issue right away.  Always be sure to check anything that you have to sign off on before submitting it to our company, this will help you avoid any problems.

Q: How Long to get my order?

Production of your order after order approval, payments and art proof approvals is generally 5-7 working days.  Usually it takes another few days to get through the approval processes.  Some products are drop shipped to you or drop shipped to our facility, so it's important to account for shipping transit times that may be involved.  Rush services are usually available and shipping can be expeditied, so let us know when you need your order completed and we will do our best to make it happen.  Check the UPS webiste for more information about shipping time lines.  Our zip code is 91303, however, many times your products might ship to you from another zip code so ask us.


In regards to custom direct overseas products, these can take anywhere from 45-90 days to complete.  There is extensive sample production and transit time to make sure orders are made properly.

Q: Can I see a sample of the item before I place an order?

If you want to see a sample of the specific item that you are considering, we will go ahead and order a random sample with out your artwork that can be shipped to you or made available for pick up at our office.  

Q: Can you provide me with a printed sample?

Here at Countdown Printables we will provide you with a digital art proof to show you exactly what your customized item will look like once it is produced. Actual pre production samples are available with a fee depending on the type of item you are looking for.

Q: What if I need help making a design or cleaning up artwork that I have?

We pride ourselves on producing great products and they usually starts with great production quality art files.  Our design team can create, fix, and add complimentary graphics for themes.  You can check out our Design Info page for more details or simply call us 800.619.6513 or 818.998.8099.  Most of the time we clean up and prep your files at no charge, however, some art feels need more love than others and we do charge $60 per hour.
